Is polyester safe to sleep on? The results are in!
Many wonder...is polyester safe? Read on to learn what we've been knowing for years...
Of course polyester is safe! Polyester was invented in 1941 by a group of British scientists. Now, nearly 80 years later -- it's been further refined and is as safe as ever! At Wicked Sheets, we know the value of these man-made fibers. Our original moisture-wicking set is made from a scientifically engineered polyester that’s designed to wick moisture quickly and effectively -- it's free of harmful dyes and bleaching agents, is Oeko-Tex® certified and was even certified as the world's first performance knit bedding by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, the AAFA. Our moisture-wicking + cooling sets are made from a blend of poly/nylon fibers that’s designed to say 2-3 degrees cooler to the touch all night long.
Benefits of polyester:
- Polyester is better for the environment! Though many commercials and media advertisements tout cotton as the best for environment, polyester is much more environmentally friendly overall. Polyester requires much less energy to clean when it's soiled — much less hot water, lower drying temperatures, and an overall more efficient cleaning and manufacturing process than cotton. Furthermore, polyester is fully recyclable — and current polyester fibers can even be remade into other products. All our sheets are cleaned quickly and easily in cool water with a low heat to dry and are not prone to shrinking.
- It's better for people with asthma and allergies. As we've discussed in other blogs, our original moisture-wicking fabrics are the world's first performance knit bedding to be certified by the AAFA as being better for people with asthma and allergies.
- Our antimicrobial and pH balancing fibers are easier to clean and last longer -- Wicked Sheets CEO Alli is still sleeping on the same set she's been snoozing on for the last ten years!
We hope this has cleared up the many questions surrounding the safety of polyester -- of course polyester is safe! This man-made fiber has been keeping wicked sleepers cool and dry for a decade. Plus, April marks a decade of Wicked Sheets! Check back over the next few weeks for giveaways and more.
As always, sleep well, sleep wicked.
