Recently I found this awesome new app for my iPad called Zite. My friend, Michael, who is article junkie, just like myself recommended it to me last week and I've been using it every day since. It's like Google News where you can create a personalized magazine with articles that are only of interest to YOU. For instance, I chose the topics: sleep, sweat, sports, entrepreneurship, social media, healthy living, and Autism and every time I open the (FREE) app it refreshes with the most recent publications referencing those topics-LOVE it!
So which sections do you think I chose to read regularly? Yep, you guessed it! Sleep and Sweat. More often than not I find interestingly pertinent articles for my industry (bed sheets and creating the most wicked sleeping environment), but there have been a lot of articles published lately about the healthy "side effects" of sleep for your skin, your memory, and overall longevity of life.
Today's motivating factoid about sleep: "The skin of a healthy sleeper is more elastic, supple and taut. The more you get a full night’s sleep, the more you’ll have that youthful glow." Read the whole article at here. It was a quick and a wealth of sleep-health knowledge.
The other intriguing tid-bit that played on my affinity for social psychology suggested that getting adequate sleep (8-10 hours a night) increases your attractiveness. Reminded me of the day that I taught my Psychology Class at Bellarmine University that when someone finds you attractive their pupils dilate, no matter what lighting you're in. They were mesmerized and I'm sure went to the bar that weekend and acted like the "Close Talker" from Seinfeld to check their love interests pupils for dilation. Prime example of misuse of knowledge- 😊
Tell me you remember the "Close Talker"...
Alright, enough "Behind the Seams" humor from Alli and back to the issue at hand; your sleep health is important to me and should be important to you as well. If you or someone you know is having trouble sleeping due to night sweats or an over-heated sleep environment, recommend Wicked Sheets. I swear by them, whether I'm sweating like a pig, just plain hot, or searching for something silky to keep me comfortable at a price I can afford, Wicked Sheets do the trick...every night.
Here's my final ask: If you're reading this and you know of a great blog about menopause, sleep, night sweats, etc. please don't hesitate to let me know-I love finding new bloggers that share my affinity for sweat. 😉
Until next time, sleep wicked!!
